HOW TO TREAT WHEN THE MAKING KNIFE IS WORN

During the cutting process, friction between the workpiece and the front of the knife over time will cause the knife to wear out. Knife wear affects productivity, accuracy and quality of machined parts. So when the knife is worn out, the solution is to sharpen the knife again.

Turning knives are usually sharpened with a two-stone grinder. One side of the corundum stone installation machine is used to sharpen high-speed steel knives. The other  side is fitted with a green silicon carbide stone used to sharpen knives made from hard alloys.

When sharpening, the knife must be installed securely on the base. When sharpening a knife  we gently press on the stone and at the same time move along the knife along the surface of the stone. We perform knife sharpening according to the following process: main back ==> secondary back ==> front. Note that you should be slightly beveled or rounded at the intersection between the main cutting blade and the secondary cutting blade. After rough grinding, re-polishing the front and back of the knife will help keep the blade straight and increase longevity.
